Jana L. Ponczak is a native Baltimorean who grew up in Pikesville. She attended Barnard College of Columbia University in Manhattan and graduated Cum Laude with degrees in American Studies and Italian. She then moved back to Baltimore and attended University of Baltimore School of Law. She received a J.D. Cum Laude from University of Baltimore with a concentration in Criminal Practice.
During her time at University of Baltimore, Jana worked as a law clerk at the Office of the Attorney General and participated in the Criminal Practice Clinic through University of Baltimore. She practices in Baltimore and the surrounding counties in both District and Circuit Court. In 2016, she argued before the Court of Special Appeals in Maryland.
Jana is passionate about helping the communities in which she lives. During her undergraduate years she coordinated a clothing pantry to aid low income individuals in the New York area. She voluntarily coaches track at the high school she attended. She serves as the Chair of Alumni Relations for her high school alma mater.
She is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Baltimore City Bar Association, and the Baltimore County Bar Association. Jana volunteers her legal services through the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers, and Jewish Legal Services. She is also a member of the Maryland Association for Justice.
In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, photography and spending time with her family.
